April 2009

This is an acrylic painting that I painted on 16"x20" linen board. When I draw and paint caricatures or portraits of people my goal is to capture their "character" or "essence" to capture the one "thing" about that person that speaks to me the most. I feel with this piece I was able to do that. I wanted to share this piece here even though it isn't digital because I feel painting traditionally will strengthen the ability to paint well digitally. This painting won 1st place for studio caricature of the year at the ISCA 17th annual competition and also was accepted in Communication Arts Annual 2009.
